Default Guild Wars Contraversy

I don't get it. Theres all this talk that the regions/nations in Guild Wars can be switched into the countries of real world, as can some NPCs (i.e Ascalon is America, or something like that, I'm not saying that's what it is though.). What's this all about and can someone tell me what each country can be switched into?

I believe what you're referring to is the "Worlds at War" system, where certain benefits are given to people in the same "world" as the team(s) that control the Hall of Heroes. Currently, there's 3 worlds: America, Europe, and Korea. It's generally a pretty good idea to choose the world closest to where you live, as you'll be connecting to closer servers(faster connection), and generally your "world" will be in control of the hall during your prime playing times, as there's more people from your part of the world playing during those times. For example, if you're in Europe and are playing at 7:00 pm, that's fairly prime hours for Europe. However, in the US/Canada/other American countries, it's somewhere around Noon- meaning most people are at school/work, and in Korea, it's during the night, meaning most people there will be sleeping.

I liked the system when European an US servers were together and now after release it just sucks.... Imagine suddenly i want to play during the night and there is nobody in Eu server.. Why did they change it?

What are the benefits, and what is this Hall of Heroes? Just started playing a couple of days ago.
